Nitro Cares

Program seeks to help Seacoast charities in need

NitroSecurity established the "Nitro Cares" program as a way for its employees to give back to society by identifying and helping local charities. The program was initially conceived by Ken Levine, CEO of NitroSecurity, but has expanded based on the involvement of Nitro's employees. "We believe that corporations are in unique positions to help promote valuable community organizations," said Ken Levine. "I am pleased that Nitro has reached the level of success where we can assist our employees in their favorite causes while also fostering even more involvement. It is my hope that we can do our small part in ensuring the good works of these vital organizations," notes Levine.

NitroSecurity has selected the following charities to initially help out:

"A $2,000 donation to the Seacoast Food Bank, for example, can feed 40 families for a week, or 20 families for two weeks," said Heather Howe, Human Resources Manager at NitroSecurity, and organizer of the program. "With Thanksgiving just around the corner, it could mean that many local families will not have to go without this holiday season. A $2,000 donation to Cross Roads House can help up to 100 families in need. And a $2,000 donation to Families First allows for preventative dental visits for 12 patients, provide doctor check-ups for 20 children, and preventative care doctor visits for 20 adults," noted Howe. "At New Heights a $2,000 donation can underwrite an 8 week specialized workshop, including all of the supplies and the scholarship of up to 3 kids for the workshop, among other programs."

In addition to the cash donations, NitroSecurity has also setup collection bins within its Portsmouth corporate headquarters to accept non-perishable food donations from its employees, and encourages other local businesses to consider similar programs.
